a PIONEER OF WOMEN'S SURFING
SURFING FOR WOMEN & GIRLS 1985 - 2000
Yvonne Lovett received her first community award in 1999 in acknowledgement for her contribution - establishing women's surfing on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia.
In the 1980's at a time when 'girls can't surf', Yvonne started the first surf school on the central coast and one of the first in Australia. She also started Central Coast Women in the Waves - one of the first female boardriding clubs in Australia.
A LEADER IN WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT 2007 - 2019
Women's Empowerment had never before been so easy - calling for the missed generation of women, teaching them to surf created an unstoppable wave where women had to ask 'what else, as women did we miss out on?' It was time to change a culture which had gone on for centuries - It is time to nurture yourself, forget the ironing, this time is for you!'
As the wave was set in motion women's empowerment was rising up, while a movement was beginning at a parallel time all around the world
Yvonne Lovett and WOW Wave Of Wisdom were recognised at leaders of women's empowerment on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia.
WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT - WHAT NEXT?
The Multicularal Learn to Surf Day 2010 brought together women representing many nations, cultures and religious belief to ride the waves together at Umina Beach on the Central Coast.
Breaking down cultural and religious barriers through surfing and play - women do this so well!
WOW Wave Of Wisdom holds true the value of women - there wisdom and gifts. Also the value of women in leadership, seeing this as a way forward for healthy, balanced connected communities.
